KHAYA MORULA PRIVATE GAME RESERVE
Bush Lodges (Catered) Accommodation
in Dwaalboom, Waterberg,
Limpopo, South Africa
Khaya Morula is situated 260km from Pretoria on the foot ends of Madikwe Game
Reserve, where we welcome guests to peaceful, malaria free surroundings with
prolific birdlife. This exclusive thatched lodge is nestled in the magnificent
Limpopo bushveld with abundant fauna and flora offering the guests tranquillity
and peace in the natural beauty of the wilderness.
Accommodation
Set in unspoilt natural surroundings are chalets, completed by the main Lodge
crafted out of indigenous woods, local slate, reed and thatch. A relaxed
atmosphere is created by the airy triple volume open plan design of the lodge.
The Main Lodge has seven rooms each decorated in a unique African theme
featuring original local artefacts, weaving and beadwork, without compromising
luxury or style. Each room has an en suite bathroom and are air-conditioned. The
focus of home and lodge life is the main "mess", which serves as both dining and
lounge area and includes a beautiful ladies bar with its rich warm colours that
blends in with the raw texture of the lodge.
Complementing the main lodge are 3 chalets which furnishings are fashioned from
stone and wood found around the camp. Spacious en suite bathrooms include
dressing space, closets and a shower room with a stone floor. Rough bush texture
give the bathroom a primitive feel. Hand crafted wooden beds offer the ultimate
romantic experience with its natural soft earthy covers.
Cuisine
Khaya Morula cuisine is an artful fusion of both local and exotic served in the
elegant formal dining room or beside a flickering campfire in the open boma.
Bush food is not normally gourmet, but meals at Khaya Morula are memorable - not
to indulgent, though definitely geared towards a refined palate. Dinner is a
four course affair, while breakfasts are fresh, simple, special and inspiring.
It is the perfect venue to celebrate special birthdays, anniversaries,
engagements and other private social or corporate events.
Activities
The Reserve is aimed at the more exclusive end of the market and the Lodge cater
for guests on a fully inclusive basis. Activities include early morning and late
afternoon game drives, walks and delectable bush braais.
Khaya Morula is home to more than 300 bird species which can be viewed at
leisure from your bungalow. For the more "diehard" of bird-watching enthusiast
who tend to steer away from commercial birding spots and who prefer roughing it
out in the bush with binoculars and a safari suit, will find plenty awarding
sites at our hides. Roaming the bushveld a variety of wildlife can be viewed
such as impala, blue wildebeest, kudu, gemsbok, waterbuck, bushbuck and
burchal's zebra, klipspringer, steenbok, porcupine, common duiker, caracal,
serval, black-backed jackel and brown hyena
