The Vaal, with birds abound, is studded with Tree-covered islands of which several have been developed into pleasure resorts. Despite being so close to the most industrialized part of South Africa, much of the Vaal River is renowned for its beauty and opportunity it provides for a restful escape. Kayanzee Lodge is an example of this escapism close to urban sprawl. It is set in an area of excellent bird life, with the attraction of wild life around it. Then off course the obvious advantage of good fishing at hand!

Kayanzee Lodge is situated 4.7 km from Vredefort Dome. It is a beautiful thatch roof establishment on the banks of the Vaal River. Being owner run, you could expect hospitality and friendliness.

Up for adventure? On arrangement - river rafting, fly-fishing, abseiling, 4x4 and hiking routes, paintball, helicopter rides and hot-air balloons.

Too active? Bird watching and picnic on site, or why not visit our world heritage site, The Vredefort Dome, or our famous antique shops and art galleries, excellent restaurants and coffee shops.

We offer four rooms:

• Two rooms with a double bed and a bath, with crisp white linen.
• Two rooms with a double and a single bed, one with a bath and the other with a shower. Linen according to room theme.

Each bedroom is unique and special in character, with it's own:

• Bath towels
• Satellite TV
• Coffee and tee trolleys with home-made rusks
• Electric blankets
• Quality comfort beds

We also offer:
