Kamberg Valley Hideaway is a 27-hectare small holding located in an un-spoilt part of the Drakensberg Mountains. The property has a small pond which is surrounded by reeds and active bird life as well as a main dam that is stocked with rainbow trout and has a lovely jetty and deck. Keen fishermen are welcome to try their luck at casting a fly-line in the dam, whilst non-fishermen can enjoy a glass of wine or a G&T on the deck whilst watching the sun set.
The property also border the Little Mooi River, so there is a short but enjoyable River Walk that guests can enjoy, with a few quiet spots to relax, read a book or have a picnic.
Kamberg Valley Hideaway has two self-catering cottages available for guests. Both are tastefully decorated, comfortable and spacious with private patio / braai areas with stunning mountain views.
Forest Cottage is the larger cottage with 3-bedrooms and two bathrooms. It can accommodate a maximum of 6 guests.
The three bedrooms can all be made up with either a King bed or two single beds and all linen and towels are provided, as are electric blankets during the colder winter months.
The main bedroom has an en-suite bathroom with a large oval bath and a walk-in, spacious shower. The other two bedrooms share a bathroom and are both connected to the bathroom, which has a large walk-in shower.
The kitchen, dining and living area are all open plan with sliding doors opening up onto a private patio / braai area.
The kitchen is fully equipped with gas hob, electric stove, fridge / freezer, microwave and dishwasher.
The living area has a free-standing log fireplace, a 3-seater, 2-seater and single seater couch and the dining area has a large wooden table with 6 chairs.
The patio contains a braai and table and 6 chairs.
Mountain View Cottage can either be rented as a one-bedroom or a two-bedroom cottage, so can accommodate a maximum of 4 guests. It adjoins the main house at Kamberg Valley Hideaway, but it feels totally separate as there is a private, separate entrance and private outdoor patio / braai area, with fabulous mountain views.
The two bedrooms can be made up with either a King bed or two single beds and all linen and towels are provided, as are electric blankets during the colder winter months.
There is a large bathroom in the cottage which has a spacious shower and well-lit mirror.

Attractions Close by:
Highmoor Nature Reserve is about 8kms away and has two well-stocked trout dams as well as many walks/hikes of varying levels of ease and difficulty. The view of Giants Castle from the top of Highmoor is really quite spectacular.
Kamberg Nature Reserve is approximately 12kms away and also has a couple of stocked trout dams and some beautiful walks in the mountains as well as along the river. Kamberg is well-known for its Game Pass Shelter Walk which has arguably the best San Bushman Rock Art Paintings in South Africa. Walks to this cave must be booked in advance as a guide will accompany guests. Kamberg Nature Reserve also has a 17km mountain bike trail.
Giants Castle is about 32kms away and guests can also enjoy many different walks and hikes here. There is also a vulture restaurant, so if guests are keen to visit that, they do need to book in advance.
Berg Trails offers horse trails and they are located about 4kms from Kamberg Valley Hideaway. Guests can enjoy different lengths of horse trails.
The Hlatikulu Crane Re-habilitation Centre is also close by, approximately 15kms away, and here they have all three endangered crane species, so guests can enjoy a visit here as well.
Next door to us is Longshadows Farm and they offer cheese tasting daily. Their cheese is hand-made from the fresh milk from their own cows. The cheeses and yoghurts are absolutely delicious (in our opinion)
Midlands Meander and Nottingham Road are about 35kms away. There are some lovely restaurants, a delicious chocolate shop (where they make the chocolates) and lots of arts and crafts shops to meander through. Nottingham Road is also where the nearest supermarket is.
If guests would like a transfer from either Pietermaritzburg or Durban, we can offer an airport transfer, for an additional cost.
We also offer photography courses and workshops on-site as one of the owners is a Professional Photographer. These would need to be booked in advance.
About 2kms away is Cleopatra Farmhouse and guests can book for a scrumptious, 6-course gourmet meal, if they would like to. Booking need to be made at least one day in advance.
