Sunset Beach is a suburb lying to the north of central Cape Town along the Blaauwberg coast, famous for its views of Table Mountain, Signal Hill and Robben Island. The sandy, white Sunset Beach is legendary amongst wind and kite surfers and stretches northwards towards Blaauwberg Beach and Big Bay. Beaches in this area encompass a total length of 48 kilometres and, as its name would indicate, are privy to glorious sunsets.

Outdoor activities and entertainment in and around Sunset Beach include water sports, walks along the beach, golf, and shopping and restaurants at Canal Walk and V&A Waterfront. Other attractions include Robben Island (a World Heritage Site), the indigenous gardens at Kirstenbosch and the wine routes of Constantia and Durbanville.

Sunset Beach provides access to the diverse cultural heritage of the Cape West Coast - the historical towns of Atlantis and Mamre display fine examples of rock art from original Khoi inhabitants and restored missionary buildings. Wild flowers, prolific during the winter rainfall months, are an added attraction.
