Llandudno is regarded as a coastal town, rather than a suburb of Cape Town, and this may have something to do with the fact that these mountain slopes remained wild and untamed until relatively recently. One reaches Llandudno on one of the most scenic drives along the coastal road towards the peninsula from Camps Bay or over Suikerbossie hill from Hout Bay. It takes just 15 minutes to reach the tranquil cove and the beach here is picture perfect and possibly the most photogenic in Cape Town.

Llandudno lies nestled in a valley with the Twelve Apostles on one side and Little Lion's Head and the Karbonkelberg Mountain sweeping off in the other direction and the beach is home to giant boulders and good surfable waves. Llandudno, named after the Welsh village of the same name, is secluded and still has no street lights or shops of any kind. The beach remains unspoilt and the surrounding fynbos untouched, despite its having become a much sought after address.
