Addo Elephant National Park

NO COMMISSION SINCE 1998

Addo Elephant National Park

Although the park's 450 African elephants are the main draw card to this reserve, there are many other game that have been introduced to the area, including buffalo, black rhino, kudu, and most recently, a pride of lions. A lookout point provides access to a hide overlooking a water hole where the animals usually gather later in the day.

Another somewhat famous inhabitant of the park is the flightless dung beetle. These curious little creatures can be seen tirelessly pushing their precious egg-laden balls of dung along the roadside.

Over 180 bird species have been spotted in the reserve, which can be best viewed from the park's bird hides.
