Best known for it's deep-sea fishing Sodwana Bay attracts thousands of fishermen every year hoping the catching ""the big one"". And few are disappointed. The small reef at Jesser Point provides excellent harbour for launching fishing boats into the open sea. Anglers often return with an impressive catches including tuna, billfish and sailfish.

Some of the the countries best scuba diving can be found in the areas off the coast of Sodwana Bay. Popular reefs such as Two-Mile Reef and Stringer Reef are home to a myriad of sea creatures from soft and hard corals to schools of Ragged-toothed sharks, affectionately known as ""Raggies"".

The Maputoland Marine Reserve to the north of Sodwana Bay is an important nesting ground for loggerhead and leatherback turtles, that descend upon this stretch of beach every summer.
