Newtown Diwali Festival
The Newtown Diwali Festival is an annual event which takes place in the Mary Fitzgerald Square in the Newtown Precinct, Johannesburg. The festival is held during the month of October and is popular amongst locals and visitors from around the country.
Diwali is the celebration of the festival of lights. It is an Indian tradition which brings colour, dance, music, arts and crafts, fashion shows and a street party with lots of dancing and celebrating. The atmosphere is electric and all are welcome to join in the festivities.
The festival will start at 11am and continue until late in the evening with much excitement in the air.
