Dick King half marathon (21,1 km) is run along a part of the route taken by Dick King on his historic ten day horse ride from Durban to Grahamstown. The race starts in Amanzimtoti's main beach and takes runners along a well balanced out and back course.

The first kilometer of the race presents a steep and challenging climb followed by a gentle downhill towards the 4km mark. From this point the race takes runners through various rises and descents towards the turn back point. This is a popular race attracting runners from various clubs around KZN and for some forms part of their training schedule towards the Comrades.
