Klawer Wine Cellars

Nestled in a valley, between the towns of Clanwilliam and Vredendal lies the small farming community of Klawer, home of the Klawer Wine Cellars, where the traditions of winemaking continue with pride. Klawer, is approximately three hours drive (300km) north of Cape Town on the N7 and 60km from the coastal town of Strandfontein, and is known as the Gateway to the Olifants River Valley. The cellars aim is to produce top quality wines through the limited production which includes not only their own wines but also the maturing of wine for neighboring wineries. Klawer Wine Cellars has become a major player in the wine industry since its establishment in 1958 as a producer of fine quality wine. Wines produced here include Shiraz, Sauvignon Blanc, Pinotage, dry whites and reds, as well as sparkling wine, semi-sweet, Late Harvest, Special Late Harvest and dessert wines.

Visitors to the cellars can also taste and purchase their award-winning wines at this attractive building which houses the office and sales complex, and entertainment area. Luncheons for large groups can be offered here, but bookings have to be made beforehand.
