The Matsamo Swazi Cultural VillageĀ  provides visitors with interesting and informative insights into the culture, traditions and lifestyles of Swazi people. The village, which has received numerous awards such as South Africa's Imvelo Responsible Tourism Award, has grown in popularity amongst tourists and local residents alike. It was established as an initiative of the Nkomazi Tribal Authority to preserve the rich and diverse cultural heritage of the region. The Matsamo Cultural village is named after Chief Matsamo, who was a well-known Shongwe chief who once ruled this tribal area.

Those who visit the Matsamo Cultural Village will experience first hand the many interesting aspects of traditional Swazi culture and lifestyle. This includes the singing of centuries-old folk songs passed down from generation to generation, lively dance performances which include the well know "Rain Dance". Other demonstrations at Matsamo Cultural Village include traditional Swazi cuisine, beadwork, weaving and drumming.

Visitors are given a fascinating tour of the village consisting of traditional bee-hive huts where they are intorduced to the villagers as they go about their daily routines, cultivating their crops, preparing traditional food and creating magnificent craft works.

The well-stocked curio shop allows you to take home more than just memories, while supporting the local craft market. The village also has a spacious African-themed, 300 seat restaurant with stunning panoramic views of the the surrounding dam.
