Staged annually at the well known Alexandra Park in Pietermaritzburg toward the end of March, the popular Cars In The Park, has become a draw card for motoring enthusiasts from all over South Africa. Having been running for more than thirty years, the event is quite a large gathering of old-timers, from all makes of cars and car clubs, trucks, tractors, and much more. The event regularly features over a thousand various exhibits which usually take at least half a day to view, making it an ideal place to spend the day with the family.

A number of interesting vehicles can be seen at Cars in the Park, and in recent years it has featured antiques such as a 1904 Cadillac, vintage steam vehicles, Ferraris and even formula one cars. A highlight on the national car club calendar, Cars in the Park attracts multitudes of enthusiasts from clubs favouring such well known names as MG, Alpha, Jaguar, Mustangs, vintage Volvo's and Triumphs. Various items of industrial and farm machinery can also be seen on display, as well as a fine selection of classic and vintage motorcycles plus a unique Stanley Steamer. Anybody is welcome to enter their vehicle on the morning of the show which then includes free entrance to the passengers in the car. The event, set in the peaceful garden like setting of Alexandra Park, also features a wide variety of tempting food and beverage options on sale, allowing visitors to feed their appetite as well as their passion for the old automobiles.
