The Blarney cottage in Richmond is the last surviving unaltered settler home
in Richmond. The cottage was built by the Byrne settlers who arrived from
Liverpool, England in 1850 on board the Henrietta. Family names dating back to
1878 are scratched into the bricks. The Blarney Cottage has been declared a
national monument, and after more than 100 years the roofing timbers and iron
were found to be sound. The Blarney Cottage is located on the Dunbar Estate in
Richmond, along the road to the Byrne Valley.
