DumaZulu Cultural Village

The name DumaZulu means "thundering Zulu", and it is the largest Zulu cultural village in South Africa, as well as being the only village to be officially opened by Zulu King Goodwill Zwelithini, which reinforces the authenticity of the village. The village is located near Hluhluwe Village in Zululand, and is laid out in the tradition Zulu style, of Zulu beehive huts arranged in a circle around a cattle kraal. At DumaZulu visitors are provided with the opportunity to take a glimpse into the interesting culture and customs of the Zulu nation. Guests can watch various displays of basket-weaving, spear and shield making, beadwork, pot-making, Sangoma bone throwing and spectacular Zulu dancing. The village is home to more than fifty Zulu residents who both live and work there, forming part of a "living museum". Visitors to the DumaZulu Cultural village are accompanied by a guide, who provides them with detailed information on history and tradition of the Zulu people. DumaZulu is managed by the renowned anthropologist and Zulu specialist Graham Stewart, also known as the "White Zulu". On the premises is a lodge with very beautiful accommodation, a restaurant and a bar. For more information contact: (035) 5622260
