Manzini Nearby Attractions Nearby Towns (within 50km) |
The busy and lively centre of Manzini is the commercial and industrial centre of Swaziland, and is situated about thirty kilometres to the
Southeast of Mbabane. Unlike the Ezulwini valley, you won't find many touristy African curios in Manzini, but you will find a twice-weekly market that
is very noisy and crowded, and is typically African. Travellers to Manzini can visit The Bhunu, a new shopping mall, while The Hub, south of the
market, has a good supermarket and several restaurants and takeaways. Visitors can see the original Catholic mission, an elegant stone building
opposite the new cathedral on Sandlane Street. Almost all of the Swaziland's entire industrial and commercial sector is based in Manzini. The town was
both a British and a Boer colonial headquarters from 1890 but was destroyed in 1902 during the Anglo-Boer War, when the administrative centre was
transferred to Mbabane. Swaziland's Matsapha International Airport lies near the town. |
