Blinkpan Nearby Attractions Nearby Towns (within 50km) |
Blinkpan is a small rural community situated in the Western region of Mpumalanga between Middleburg and Bethal. The natural
vegetation within the region is generally grassland, with isolated spots of shrubs and trees. Farming in the Blinkpan area comprises maize, potatoes
and sunflowers, and the nearby town of Bethal is host to an annual Potato Festival. This is an area of Mpumalanga that is the centre of the coal
mining industry in South Africa, and Blinkpan is not without its own coal mine, most of which goes to neighbouring power stations such as Hendrina, a
few kilometres to the East. The community does support an 18 hole golf course that hosts the Blinkpan Open every January. In late summer the whole
veld springs into colour with the annual blooming of the cosmos flower. |
