Oribi Flats is a small village settlement sitting on a plateau high above the Oribi Gorge, just a few kilometers inland from Port Shepstone.

Birdwatching is excellent in the southern part of KwaZulu-Natal - nearly 400 species have been seen there. Forest birds in the Oribi Flats area are particularly colourful and birdwatching tours are available in the area. The Oribi Gorge Nature Reserve, offer spectacular views and a wide variety of species can be seen.
