Biggarsberg is the name given to a range of hills running from north-west to south-east between the Natal village of Glencoe, which was originally named Biggasberg Junction, and Ladysmith.

Alexander Biggar, who acted as a guide for the British Commando on their way to the Battle of Blood River, overturned his scotchcart when he hit a submerged pothole while fording a stream in the hills. He struck such a comic figure that his comrades named the hills Biggarsberg.

The Biggarsberg bore silent witness to the discovery of coal and the subsequent growth of the settlement of Dundee mushrooming in its foothills.
