The suburb is bordered to the Northwest by the Mount Edgecombe Country Estate and Golf Club, and is extremely close to The Gateway Theatre of Shopping complex by Umhlanga Ridge. This shopping mall is one of the most modern shopping malls in South Africa, sporting not only retail outlets, but also theatres, cinema nouveau, a bluetooth zone, valet parking, a fantasy forest, a stationery wave house, a climbing wall, a family entertainment centre, not to mention its numerous fast food outlets and restaurants. It's difficult to find something that you can not do at Gateway.

Sunningdale is ideally placed for Umhlanga Rocks and Virginia Airport. This is a delightful suburb of twisting streets lined with picturesque houses and gardens, and an ideal spot in which to spend a few days relaxing, and it's only a five minutes drive down to the beach and the warm Indian Ocean.
