Roodepoort, which in Afrikaans means "red valley", because of its red sand, is a suburb in Johannesburg.

Attractions:
While visiting Roodepoort it would be worth your while to visit the Roodepoort Museum where you will learn about the diverse history of Roodepoort. The museum has many different historic items from ceramics and literature to sculptures and paintings. It is open to the public from Tuesdays to Fridays from 9:30am to 4:30pm. The Walter Sisulu National Botanical Gardens, formerly known as the Witwatersrand National Botanical Gardens is a very popular outing for the whole family where you can relax and enjoy the tranquility of the indigenous plants and wild flowers in the gardens, also the waterfall that attracts many visitors to the gardens.

Roodepoort enjoys a moderate climate with warm to hot summer days with most rainfall as thunderstorms and cool and crisp winter days with temperatures dropping in the evenings.
