Sandhurst is a suburb of large properties situated just a few blocks from Johannesburg's new central business district of Sandton. All entrances to Sandhurst are controlled by traffic booms, and there is a high degree of security here. Sandhurst houses both the Chinese and the Spanish Consulates. The Tara rehabilitation Centre and the Sandhurst Eye Centre are found in the west of Sandhurst close to William Nicol Drive.
