Naval Hill, Bloemfontein

Naval Hill is well known for its natural beauty and historic significance and is set in the centre of Bloemfontein.

Attractions:
Naval Hill has been occupied by the Franklin Nature Reserve since approximately 1930 and is a magnificent day out for the whole family, the reserve is open daily from 8am to 17h00. There is a variety of wildlife to be seen, such as buck, zebra, giraffe and many different species of birds. From Naval Hill you can admire the scenic views of the Bloemfontein City. There is a large white sculpture of a horse ontop of Naval Hill which was used as a landmark for the British Cavalry during the Anglo Boer War. The popular Observatory Theatre, previously known as the Lamont Hussey Observatory, is a must see while visiting Naval Hill.

Climate:
Naval Hill is in Bloemfontein and has a moderate climate with warm to very hot summer months with most of its rainfall as thunderstorms and cool to very cold, dry winter months.
