Port St Johns is located on the Wild Coast, with its signature mangrove swamps, impenetrable forests and lashing waves. The Umzimvubu River cuts a
huge gorge right to the sea bewtween Twin Mountains - the Thesiger and Sullivan - regarded as the gates of St Johns.
The colonial grandeur of
the old town has some wonderful restaurants with beautiful views of the sea.
Port St Johns has 3 beaches, 3rd beach is a favourite retreat for
backpackers, and well-known for it's laid-back atmosphere. Numerous hiking trails end their way through the nearby Silaka Nature Reserve.
