Steytlerville Accommodation |
Steytlerville is a little town that lies in the shadow of the Winterhoek Mountains in the Baviaans Wilderness area. This part of the Karoo is the centre of the wool and mohair industry, home to sheep, ostrich and goat farming. Established in 1876, Steytlerville is rich in Victorian architecture with one of the largest Edwardian churches in existence in the country and little Victorian houses line the main street. Steytlerville boasts a rich history, preserved in the Steytlerville Museum, open to the public by appointment. Local farmers around Steytlerville
are re-introducing game, such as kudu, duiker, wildebeest, klipspringer, impala and zebra to the area and opening up portions of their farms for game
malaria-free viewing. |
