Leopard Rock Hotel – Where to Stay
Leopard Rock Hotel Golf Course is one of the world's most spectacular course
with stunning views from almost every hole. The Peter Matkovich-designed layout
measures 6164 meters off the Championship tees with almost every hole being a
feature hole.
After holing out at the picturesque 8th green which is surrounded by fern trees
and a water feature you will walk through the rocks up to the 9th Tee to face
the “ The Leopard Rock” one the many feature holes, an intimidating Par 3 which
plays 160 m from the club tees but all the carry is over water.
After a ice cold refreshment and a light snack at the Golf Clubhouse which will
leave you rearing to take on the rest of this Matkovich master piece.
After easing through the first few opening holes of the back nine, the stern
test starts at the Par 4, 412 meter, 13thHole. The tee shot must be steered
between the rocks on the left and the lush tropical forest on the right. Then
you are faced with a shot of between 150 & 200 meters over a ravine running
across the front of the green, which has a severe slope, that will punish any
shot favouring the left.
On to the 14th, an elevated tee, which has a spectacular back drop of the
mountainous Burma Valley. This par 3 has an elevation drop of 30 meters down to
the green protected by two small dams. It’s no wonder that this hole is named
the “Matkovich”
Throughout the course wild orchids, tree ferns and other flora species
indigenous to the Bvumba abound, while the lush bush teems with bird life. With
stunning views and the undulating bent grass greens, the course is a challenge
to all golfers and leaves one with the great desire to return again and again.
