Foxwood House is an elegant boutique hotel on two and a half acres of lush gardens in Houghton, Johannesburg. It is a haven of tranquility and old-world charm close to the business districts of Sandton, Rosebank and the Johannesburg CBD.
The suites are large and luxurious, are furnished with antique pieces, and all have dial-up Internet access and satellite TV featuring a large variety of channels. Smoking is not permitted in any of the buildings or guest rooms.
Jessie's Cottage
Late Victorian in style, Jessie's Cottage is furnished with family heirlooms dating from the end of the 19th Century. It has a very spacious bedroom, a newly renovated modern bathroom, and an enclosed private courtyard.
Anna's Suite
A French inspired suite, compromising of a large sunny bedroom, a comfortable lounge/living room, a private courtyard a separate dressing room, and a sun-drenched spacious bathroom.
The John Oates Suite
Authentic Colonial suite in the old homestead, overlooking stately trees and well-established gardens. A large living room, separate dressing room, original bathroom, and resident ghost, make this room truly unique.
The Pearl Oates Suite
Quaint and intimate, a suite in the old house, which also offers a balcony overlooking the gardens and theatre, is ideal for single occupation.
Garden Cottage
Spilling out onto a lush secluded garden, the Garden Cottage offers two luxurious bedrooms, two bathrooms, a generous living room, a formal dining room, and patio, complete with an inviting day bed.
The historic David Fleming house, now called Burra Burra by its previous Australian owners, built in 1924 was one of the first houses in the district and has been officially recognized as a Johannesburg Heritage Site, has been meticulously restored to its 1930s look, and many of the original pieces of furniture remain exactly where they were placed all those years ago. The gardens were also designed during the same period, and have been kept largely unchanged.
Excellent cuisine can be enjoyed in the private or public dining areas in The Villa, a historic homestead, or on the patio under the oaks, or even at a private table in the gardens.
With around the clock neighborhood security guards outside the property and excellent security inside, as well as ample parking, the safety and comfort of our guests is paramount.
Killarney Mall, one of Johannesburg's most established shopping centers is less than five minutes walk from the hotel, and Rosebank Mall, made famous by its African Market open seven days a week, and its Sunday Roof-Top Flea-Market, now an institution for many Johannesburg residents and definitely not to be missed, is barely a five minute drive away. Foxwood House is centrally placed between three excellent Johannesburg golf courses, and transport to and from any of theses places, as well as Oliver Thambo International Airport can be arranged should you require it.
