Downderry is self-catering cottage situated at
Haga Haga on the beautiful Eastern Cape Wildcoast of South Africa. The elevated house is right on the ocean, looking out to the horizon.
There is a main house and an adjoining double-storey flat which has a steep staircase to the top room and bathroom. The main house has three bedrooms, a master bedroom with cot, and two other bedrooms each with three beds. The adjoining flat has two bedrooms. All bedrooms have twin beds, a dressing table, wardrobes, bedside tables with lamps, and chairs. There are two bathrooms, one in the main house and one upstairs in the flat, each with bath and shower, basin and toilet. Duvets, pillows, blankets, linen, towels
(No beach towels provided), dishtowels and cloths, and beach towels are provided.
There is a dining room in the main house which leads out onto a lovely patio overlooking the sea, where there is a Weber (oven-type barbecue), a braai (barbecue), and skottle (gas open-dish cooker).
The brand new kitchen has a dishwasher, modern microwave with grill, two-basins, a washing machine and electric stove. The kitchen is well equipped. There is a large modern fridge/freezer, a smaller freezer and drinks fridge in the dining room. The windows from the kitchen look right out to sea and one can watch the dolphins going past whilst cooking! You will need to bring your own food, drinks, cleaning materials, toiletries, soap and toilet rolls.
The comfortable lounge has large windows and leads out onto a veranda. The view out to sea from the lounge and veranda is unsurpassed.
There is colour T V and a DSTV dish and decoder.
There is one garage and open parking for one or two vehicles.
Our housekeeper is responsible for the cottage and services the cottage everyday
at the owner's expense. She cleans the cottage, makes beds and does one washing
up per day. Her services are mandatory. She will be there to greet you and also
there when you leave.
Pets are allowed as long as they are well behaved and do not soil or damage the
cottage
Other important information
Haga Haga is an unspoilt village, 70 kilometres from East London, 25 kilometres off the N2,13 kms. of which is on dirt road.
There is a beautiful safe beach, 100 meters from the house and a tidal lagoon which is ideal for small children. Beautiful rock-pools abound, there are lovely shells to collect and the spot is well known for good fishing. Hikes along this coast-line are very popular and it is a bird-watchers paradise. The climate is moderate and Malaria-free.
Haga Haga has a hotel, a library, an information centre and little museum, tennis courts and wonderful sign-posted walks.
Close by (3 kms.), a golf course, a game farm, a local pub and horse-riding are available.
Transport to Haga Haga is only by car, either self owned or hired.
