This modern colonial-style Guest House has six comfortable en suite double rooms – three upstairs and three downstairs – with air conditioning and ceiling fans. Each room has its own private verandah and separate entrance. Beds are made up as either king size or twin with pure cotton percale linen. There is a pull down single sleeper bed in two of the rooms – suitable for a small adult or child.
The flat screen TV’s in the rooms have a DSTV Hospitality Bouquet. The TV in the lounge / dining room has a full DSTV Bouquet. There is free WiFi throughout the building.
A hearty South African breakfast is served either on the downstairs dining room patio – weather permitting – or in the lounge / dining area.
Coral Tree Colony is unlicensed. There is a bottle store in the village – just five a five minute walk away and you are welcome to bring your own drinks.
The view from all the verandahs is down the Southbroom Golf Course’s 12th and 13th fairways to the sea. Southbroom itself is a wonderful, unpretentious, coastal getaway with access to three wonderful swimming beaches and an easily accessible coastline that stretches along the length of the village. There are two nature trails within the village boundary which take one through the sub-tropical forest and a third trail meanders alongside the lagoon. Birdlife is abundant and Vervet monkeys are regular visitors to Coral Tree. On the ten minute walk to the main swimming beach guests can, at times, catch a glimpse of a rare blue duiker – endemic to the area – grey duiker or bushbuck. The dassies are usually sunning themselves on the rocks towards the beach end of Imbezane Drive. Nocturnal sightings include porcupines, white tailed mongooses and even a honey badger.
Southbroom has its fair share of eateries. The Trattoria, overlooking the Mkobi Lagoon, is fine dining at its best. Riptide overlooks the main swimming beach – great place for a snack and a beer. YaYa’s in the village centre serves fantastic coffees, breakfasts and lunch. Tamarind does amazing Thai style food – either sit down or takeaway. O’Malley’s pizzas are tasty and more-ish.
Coral Tree Colony B & B is both child friendly and pet friendly – both by prior arrangement.
