CAMP DORADO
Tented Accommodation

Camp Dorado are situated on Macaneta Island 35km North of Maputu. By crossing the Nkomati River at Marracuen by Ferry, it can carry 6 cars, boat etc. at a time. It operates from 7:00 in the morning till 19:00 in the evening.
The camp consist of 5 tents
Our ablution are clean, neat and comfortable with hot water. Relax on a cleanbeach.
Fresh fish are available from the local fisherman, petrol, charcoal and bread are available at Marracuene. Although fresh water is available, it is advisable to bring enough of your own drinking water. It will be a stay to remember.
Mozambique
A must to take with
- A visa is not necessary .
- Your passport must be valid for at least 6 months after your return.
- South-African drivers license is accepted.
- Keep your car and trailer / caravan registration papers handy.
- If your vehicle is financed the necessary permission must be obtained
from the bank in writing, with a copy of the registration papers.
- A sticker with a yellow triangle and a blue background must be stuck on
the right front corner of the vehicle, and right back of the trailer or
caravan.
- It is also compulsory to stick an oval ZA sticker on the back of your
vehicle.
- The law insists that you have 2 red warning triangles inside your car.
- You must also inform your insurer and obtain the necessary documents
from them.
- You can exchange money at the BP Garage on the South-African side before
the border post. The Rand is now ± R1 for ±3 Mt.
At the Border:
- A temporary export permit must be completed on the South-African side of
the border listing the items that will be returning with you for example
your trailer/ caravan, freezers, laptop, camera, camping equipment etc.
- A gate pass must also be completed and stamped.
- A Third-party insurance is a must and can be purchased at the border.
- Here your vehicle will be inspected and your gate pass must be signed
again.
In Mozambique:
- Safety belts are must for ALL passengers in the vehicle.
- Keep to the speed limit traffic officers are always on the road.
- Before Maputo there are 2 tollgates the one is 19.50Mt and the other
95.00Mt.
- The tar road is in good condition. On the way you will see a neat
shopping centre (Shoprite/Checkers) incase you forgot something.
- Mosquito spray or lotion is a must - it is a Malaria area. Drinking
water would be recommended.
- ATM'S are available here and there incase you need to draw.
- Crime: Look after your cell and your money. Enjoy your holiday.
