Boulders Game Ranch and Bush Lodges is situated at Mica which is between
Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit on the R40 road. Boulders is less than 30 minutes
from the Kruger National Park, Kapama cheetah breeding project, Maholoholo
animal rehabilitation centre, Hoedspruit and Phalaborwa.
It is also within a days drive to Pilgrims Rest, Sabie, Gods window
and the famous Potholes.
Both Phalaborwa and Hoedspruit have international airports.
Accommodation:
Boulders has two 8 bed lodges which are very private and secluded, both are
self catering, though the main lodge can also be fully catered on special
requests
Main Lodge: is situated on the top of a koppie (hill) and has 4 luxury
twin bed
air conditioned thatched chalets-each with en-suite bathrooms, ceiling fans and
a balcony with a unique view of the surrounding valley and hills.
Sundowners are enjoyed in the swimming pool, on your own private balcony or the
main deck where meals can be served. The main deck over looks a game drinking
hole and the view of the Drakensberg with the setting sun is truly magnificent.
The Main Lodge also has DSTV for the sport lovers, lounge, bar and besides a
fully equipped kitchen a beautiful braai (barbeque) area between massive
boulders.
Dam Lodge
The dam Lodge is more rustic and is situated next to a small dam stocked with
bream and bass.
This Lodge is ideal if you want the real Africa as the shower and toilet
facilities are away from the chalets and open to the stars. The water is heated
by a donkey (bush geyser).
One bedroom has 6 beds and the second bedroom has a double bed. Both rooms have
fans only.
Besides the well equipped kitchen there is an outside braai (barbeque) area
which over looks the dam and surrounding mountains where there are massive
boulders and gigantic rock figs.
Game
Boulders is a bird watchers paradise and a wide variety of game is also found
on the ranch including:
Rhino, buffalo, leopard, eland, kudu, waterbuck, giraffe, sable, nyala,
wildebeest, impala, warthog, duiker, grysbuck, Steenbuck, klipspringer,
reedbuck, ostrich.- Cheetah, wild dog, elephant and lion have also been seen,
as they pass through the ranch to neighboring wildlife reserves.
