Begharitius - as the name suggests, a slice of paradise overlooking phenomenal panoramic ocean vistas. This quaint traditional beach cottage offers family and friends a relaxing getaway in the heart of the Eastern Cape.
Situated on the borders of a nature reserve and practically on the oceans front door step, the lounge doors open onto a beautifully maintained garden that overlooks rolling white sandunes. A 200m stroll over these dunes will take you to the shoreline as well as to the Begha river which is also 200m to the right from the front garden.
The house sleeps 10 people comfortably with the main bedroom off the lounge
having a king size bed, a 2nd bedroom also off the lounge holding 2 single beds,
another room off the lounge has a double bed, as well as an enclosed verandah
with 2 single beds, the back room off the kitchen has a king-size with en-suite.
All rooms have cupboard space and the crashing of waves can be heard from each
pillow to lull you to sleep.
There is double access to the back bathroom - from the back room as well as the back veranda - which has bath, basins and toilet. The main bathroom has the same facilities with a shower as an extra. There is an open outside shower at the back verandah too for a cold washdown on a good day!
The large kitchen area if fully equipped with all the necessary equipment including fridge, freezer, microwave, gas stove, crockery and cutlery.
As a friendly reminder: This is a fully self catering cottage - all washing
powders, liquids, cleaning agents, toilet paper, soap etc to be provided by
yourselves.
The lounge and entertainment area overlook the front verandah which leads to the braai area, front garden and panoramic views.
TV facilities are available, however you will need to bring your own DStv card, otherwise the TV will not activate. There is also a radio available.
All linen is provided - all we ask is that you bring your own towels. For extended stays, there is a washing machine available to do laundry.
The maid Lilian is a live-in maid and has her own quarters on the property. She
uses the kitchen to prepare her meals - and would ask you to kindly accommodate
her in this respect. Lilian's daily rate is R55.00 per day
There is also a resident tortoise shell cat, Amber, who we ask you to tolerate or pamper at your preference.
Begharitius is right on the beachfront along with 5 other residences, access is by private road while the village, about 300m away consists of around 200 residences that mushroom around the river and spread out across the hills.
Your stay at Begha can be as tranquil or exhilarating as you wish to make it. Angling is very popular all year round and the wide flat stretches of beach offer the perfect strip for runners, amblers, cyclists, kite surfers and beachcombers!! The Begha River is a hive of activity in peak season with paddlers, skiers, jet skiers, swimmers and fisherman. The closest supply store and restaurant is in Wesley which is about 10 minutes drive from the house. There is a local convenience store where you can buy merchandise from lotto tickets to Chappies to fresh cabbages. Alongside is a fantastic craft store and restaurant that make the best home made pies this side of the
Fish River!
Mpekweni Sun is a mere 10 minutes drive from the house along the coastal road towards PE offering river activities and restaurant.
The famous Fish River Sun is then an additional 5 minutes drive from Mpekweni where you will find the world famous golf course designed by Gary Player himself, along with horse riding dining, river activities and conference facilities.
If you feel the need to get out and about for the day,
Bathurst to see
the big pineapple, and make sure you don't miss out on the fantastic marina.
If quad biking or horse riding is your thing, there is the
Three Sisters Horse Trails en route to
Port Alfred as well as the Fish River, St Francis health Spa, cheese factory and game farms.

Birha is an exclusive beach resort approx 1 hour from the East London airport
and 2 hours from PE. At the "Birha Holiday Resort" sign, Follow the tarred road.
Keep right following the residential area arrows which is MTHOMBO Drive, first
T-Junction right into MSINGA Way. Hair-pin bend left into INDWE Drive, 2nd
T-Junction right into BIRHA Drive, 1st left into LWANDLE Drive and then
immediate left onto a steep gravel road. After paved drive downhill, first
driveway and cottage on the left. (White and Green cottage)Have a great stay!
