BASS LAKE CONFERENCE LODGE
Bush Lodge Accommodation
in Leeuwkloof, Pretoria,
Gauteng, South Africa
Escape into a watered valley, deep inside mountains named after Africa's legendary baboon.
While Bass Lake Lodge feels away from it all in thick thorn-tree bush, it's only 20 minutes from
Pretoria.
Bass Lake Lodge is one of those bush conference venues where memories are made.
It's all about contrast: the rugged Bobejaansberg mountains and the wild African bushveld juxtaposed with luxury rooms and mouth-watering meals.
What the environment of Bass Lake Lodge offers is an opportunity to focus on the present, particularly during a conference when one needs to get away from office distractions and focus on issues of massive importance.
The latter is what Bass Lake Lodge's conference facilities are there for.
Tailored for intimacy rather than mass gatherings, Bass Lake Lodge is an ideal venue for conferences with up of 32 delegates. Two conference rooms, furnished to executive standard and equipped with audio-visual equipment, are on hand.
There's Black Bass, named after a species of the fish from which the place takes its name, which seats 32. The even-smaller room, Bosvark, named after Africa's not-to-be-messed-with bush pig, seats 14.
The only sounds at Bass Lake Lodge are those of the bush: the noise of city traffic having been left behind, forgotten and out of earshot. However, the electronic communications age is right there. Internet, e-mail, cable television and telephone connections can be organised without much fuss.
Also available with a touch of advance notice are games played that are best played in the bush, such as a session on board a quad bike; or "shooting" one's grown-up playmates in a game of paintball.
More tranquil is the option of throwing a line into the lake; challenging a bass to the lure.
While bonding with nature is one thing Bass Lake Lodge is all about, it's also about people using this special place to bond with one another. Which is why it's a perfect place to do team building, bonding on water while on a rafting adventure or dressing up as suspects in a murder mystery evening, accusing one another of "bumping off the boss".
Just as animals always head for water as every day in Africa comes to a close, the pub at Black Bass Lodge is a similar magnet. However this watering hole has fringes such as a pool table and music and intends to be place for fun rather than simply survival in the harsh African bush!
