Baleia Bay Lodge is situated on the coast of Barra, about 500
km north of Maputo in the beautiful country of Mozambique.
Inhambane is in the heart of the Mozambique tropics and Baleia Bay Lodge is
walking distance (+/- 500 meter) from the beach, about 30 km from the historical
town of Inhambane and 20 km from Tofo. Other main attractions in this area
include the stunning beaches of Barra, Tofo, Jangamo and Tofinho. The area is
also great for surfing, fishing, snorkeling, diving, the use of wet bikes and
quad bikes (beach-driving is not allowed but there is ample non-beach space to
drive around). There are many good diving reefs in the area including the world
famous Manta and Barra reefs.
Our 12-bed self-catering lodge is fully equipped and has beautiful sea views.
The lodge consists of 4 bedrooms. Two of the bedrooms each have a double and a
single bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower (with electric geysers),
toilet and basin. The two other rooms have 3 single beds in each and they share
a bathroom.
The 12 beds are equipped with mosquito nets and each room has at least one fan.
Linen is provided and includes: 1 pillow, 1 pillow case, 1 bed throw, flat and
fitted sheets and 1 blanket per bed. The lodge is serviced daily and security is
provided at night. We also have four security boxes fitted to the walls in the
units for safekeeping of your camera, keys, purses, passports etc.
24 hour electricity is supplied by EDM (Electricity De Mozambique).
The lodge is further equipped with:
- Cutlery, including plates, glasses, knives, forks etc.
- Fridge and freezer
- Built-in braai with braai-grid (Please Note: no open wood fires
are allowed. Only charcoal is allowed in the braai area
- Electric kitchen appliances including microwave oven, hand mixer, etc
- 4-plate gas stove with oven
- Other kitchen appliances including pots & pans, braai utensils etc.
- Two outside tables with 12 plastic chairs
- Washing line
- Plastic buckets etc for washing
- Broom, mop etc
- Iron and ironing board
- A TV with a satellite dish. Please bring your own decoder with Smart
Card - and arrange with your service provider for the use of the decoder in
Mozambique.

- Bath towels and beach towels
- Dish cloths, dishwashing liquid etc
- Other kitchen cleaning liquids
- Refuge bags
- Charcoal (Please Note Again: No open wood fires allowed)
- Cadac braai
- Matches & firelighters
- Beach chairs
- Beach umbrellas
- Washing pegs
- Basic first aid kid
- Mosquito repellant, coils etc
- "Doom" and other insect repellant
- Toilet paper & toilet spray
- 4 medium size locks with keys if you plan to use the fitted safety boxes
