Welcome to our surprisingly different African home. Afrikhaya Guest House is a new, owner designed, built and managed guesthouse situated in the quiet residential part of St.Lucia village. The main centre of town is within walking distance and offers several restaurants, curio shops, beach and fishing shops as well as supermarkets, a fruit and craft market and the hustle and bustle of a small tourist town. St.Lucia is surrounded by the iSimangaliso Wetland Park, South Africa's first natural World Heritage Site, the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and the St.Lucia Estuary.

Situated a 2.5 Hrs. drive North of Durban, on the Elephant Coast, our Bed & Breakfast is ideally positioned to be your base from which to explore this  beautiful and unique area.

Facilities:
Afrikhaya offers a unique stylish Afro-contemporary home set in a tropical garden where Monkeys, Squirrels, Mongoose and Hornbills are just a few of the many visitors.

All our 4 spacious guestrooms have a private entrance and terrace; the uniqueness of the design and layout provide guest convenience and privacy. We offer 2 rondavel styled rooms in front of the house with en-suite bathroom and extra single bed if required and 2 double rooms at the back of the main house with en-suite bathroom and thatched veranda. The rooms are elegantly furnished with comfortable XL Boxspring beds, cooling and heating air-conditioner, ceiling fan, bar-fridge, wall safe, hairdryer and coffee and tea making facilities. The cozy lounge with satellite television and the dining area are overlooking a sparkling pool, a delicious healthy breakfast can be enjoyed inside or on our outside patio.

Activities
Your hosts welcome you with a drink and an orientation talk and are happy to advise and book all eco-tours and activities that are available in this beautiful area.

A visit to the world renowned Hluhluwe iMfolozi Game Reserve, situated 50 kms. from St.Lucia and home to the Big 5, is a short drive away and we gladly assist or organize a safari for you.

Other activities we consider "not to be missed" are a boat cruise on Lake St.Lucia to look for hippos and crocodiles, a night drive in the Wetland Park, an exploration of the iSimangaliso Wetland Park and snorkeling at Cape Vidal beach.

A variety of Zulu cultural tours are also available with visits to a rural area or a cultural village.

This area is Birders Paradise and an early morning walk or kayaking on the lake is ideal to spot that rare one that's still missing on your list.

Numerous trails meander through the Park which can be explored on foot or horseback.

Spectacular are the seasonable boat based Whale Watching ( May - November) and Turtle Tours ( December -March) are also a special and memorable experience.

Tennis and golf can be enjoyed at the Monzi Golf course.
