WHITE WATER RAFTING
The major summer activity is white water rafting, and the most exciting time to do this is between November and May.
The 30km stretch of river known as "
The Canyon" provides some of the most thrilling white water in the country. The South African leg of the Camel White-Water Challenge took place at Zingela and the venue received rave reviews from participants and organisers.
A wide choice of river-rafting packages is available - from half a day to four days on the river. One man Kayaks, two man crocs and eight man rafts are used on the river, in accordance with water levels and the groups abilities.
Safety is a priority, and the SARA trains all our guides. No previous rafting experience is necessary.
ABSEILING
The rugged cliffs overlooking the Tugela canyon provide dizzying abseil sites. Face your fear or watch other participants step over the edge!
Experienced guides are there to provide reassurance and to ensure complete safety.
For the more frivolous, there is a super "Foofy Slide" across the Thukela River too.
4x4 OFF ROAD & QUADBIKE TRAILS
Get seriously off the beaten track and make use of our rugged 4x4 tracks. Instructors are available on request. Zingela lies within the 50 000ha Thukela Biosphere and has many kilometres of rugged terrain, following the course of the Thukela River.
Alternatively, make a day of it, take a picnic lunch and ride into Zingela on horseback. An added bonus is that you will be travelling through prime game country.
HORSE-BACK SAFARIS & RIDES
For those who love the idea of a day out in the open country, on horseback, we can provide the necessary hire of the horses and tack and can of course pack you a picnic lunch for your day out with the wild game.
LEISURE & DE-STRESSING OPTIONS
For those not interested in adventure activities, the camp is ideally suited for guided walks, game viewing, birding, fresh-water fishing or merely sitting in the shade of a thorn tree with a good book. Zingela provides for these de-stressing options, when you are done with the physical activities for which our camp is renown.
WILDLIFE, BIRDING & GAME-VIEWING:
Being on the banks of the Thukela River is a plus, for the abundance of game and birds that this brings to Zingela, year round. There are no main roads, no hoards of sight see-ers and no queues of motor vehicles to contend with. This is Wildest Africa at it's best, with a wide variety of game for viewing and for the Photo-buffs to while away their time capturing.
There is also a herd of elusive elephant here in this portion of the Biosphere as well as the usual plains game and a full complement of over 250 bird species to view. Trails can be taken on Horseback, on foot, by 4x4 or bring your own Quadbike, if you like.
HUNTING
A limited amount of hunting is permitted within the biosphere. We can organise the necessary. Professional Hunter and Outfitting permits. Trophy licenses and can also undertake the required field taxidermy, locally.
Interested persons should please contact us for more details and rates for these specialised activities.
SPECIAL CORPORATE FUNCTIONS & TEAMBUILDING
Corporate functions, "Bosberaads" and conferences are a frequent activity here at Zingela where your cell phone nor your car will be of use to you. Nature is your playground and Mark and his assistants make full use of the river, cliffs and rugged terrain to mould a team through shared experiences.
The Itinery is tailor-made for your group and in discussion with your organiser.
On request we can source highly experienced facilitators who link physical activities with discussions in the conference room.
Corporate bookings of 15 delegates or more are regarded as exclusive. Contact names of companies who have been at Zingela this season are available on request. Reece-Edwards and the Sharks were with us in March as were Nedbank, BMW, Toyota Forklifts and Beacon sweets.
