Ventersberg Stables is situated in the Eastern Free State town of Fouriesburg,
on the border of Lesotho. We offer customised horse riding experiences in the
scenic Brandwater Basin, surrounded by the Witteberg, Rooiberg and Maluti
mountain ranges.
Our name is inspired by one of the highest mountains in the area: Ventersberg,
which at 2,269m above sea level offers breathtaking 360-degree views.
Established over 10 years ago, we have more than 20 horses, mostly bred by
ourselves (Arab, Boerperd, Friesian and Basotho bloodlines)... and a few
donkeys, too! Our horses are well socialised and tame, because we rear them
personally.
The stables offer:
- Circular routes (1-4 hours; minimum two riders)
- Sundowner and moonlight rides (2 hours; minimum two riders)
- Day trips (minimum 2 riders)
- Overnight, 2-day and 3-day trails (minimum 4 riders)
- Riding lessons for children / novices
- Stabling facilities for horse owners and
- Adventure weekend camps for schools.
All day trips and overnight rides (and most of the shorter rides) are guided
by the owner, and a support vehicle transports all your food, drinks and bedding
to the overnight accommodation (camping or self-catering, depending on your
preference) on various well established guest farms in the area.
Saddle bags are available for drinks and snacks on the rides. Hard hats are also
provided. We offer a 10% discount for groups of 7 or more (maximum 10 riders on
any ride).
Fouriesburg is 330km from Joburg, 250km from Bloemfontein, 450km from Durban and
33km from Clarens. If you haven't already discovered the beauty of the Eastern
