Sailaway Dhow Safaris to the Bazaruto Archipelago.
Sailaway Dhow Safaris offers unique safaris to the Bazaruto Archipelago. Climb
aboard our traditional dhow and explore various islands and reefs. Trip options
include day safaris to Magaruque Island and overnight safaris to Magaruque,
Bazaruto and Benguerra Islands. Our safaris include meals, refreshments,
snorkelling and safety equipment and park entry fees.
Day Safari
Discover Magaruque Island. Snorkel off the base reef and hike along the island
beaches. The fish and bird species are diverse and plentiful. Our seafood lunch
prepared on the dhow and served on the beach is highly recommended.
Itinerary:
Meet at Sailaway office at 8.30am for trip briefing, fit snorkelling equipment
and depart for Magaruque. Approximate arrival time on the Island at 10.15am.
Lunch is served at 12.30pm. Departure from the island at 2.45pm, return to
Vilanculos around 4.15pm.

Overnight Safari
Overnight options are a 2 or 3 day safari. Our overnight camp is situated on the
mainland, 12km north of Vilanculos, and is equipped with a shower and ablutions.
Tents, bedding and mattresses are provided.
Itinerary
Day 1: Meet at 8.30, fit snorkelling equipment, and depart for Magaruque Island.
Explore the islands, snorkel and enjoy a seafood lunch. Thereafter, set sail for
our overnight camp in Chigamane, arriving late afternoon. Supper around 7pm.
Day 2: After breakfast, head out to Bazaruto Island. Hiking up the sand dunes on
the south point is recommended, and thereafter 2 Mile Reef for snorkelling. The
order of activities is tidal dependent. Lunch on an island and return to
Vilanculos in the late afternoon.
Day 3 option: Set off from Chigamane to Benguerra Island for a morning hike to
the fresh water crocodile lagoons, or snorkel again at 2 Mile Reef. The
snorkelling option is tidal dependent. Lunch is served at noon, after which the
dhow sets sail for Vilanculos, arriving late afternoon.

1 night, 2 day safari: US$ 230 p/p.
2 night, 3 day safari: US$ 345 p/p.
