RIVERWILD 4X4
The 4x4 trail is one of the leading off-road experiences in South Africa. The trail is driven by participants in their own vehicles under guidance of our experienced marshals. The trail has different sections with a variety of challenging natural obstacles, each with its own character and each offering varying degrees of difficulty, including river crossings, mud sections, steep ascents and descents and plenty of rocky areas, all under expert guidance. For those who do not want to participate in the extreme sections, it is possible to take a detour.
Safety, vehicle care and enjoyment are the cornerstones around which the 4x4 trail was developed. Cross country drives and trips in the scenic surrounding forests are available for off-road vehicles without low range.
4x4 Driver training is presented on request and includes level 1, level 2 and level 3 courses covering the topics of environment, vehicle information, offroad techniques, recovery and practical training, driving through a number of obstacles. Advanced courses include navigation, GPS, advanced recovery and other specialised skills to ensure a safe offroad experience.
ACCOMMODATION
The bush camp is in a class of its own. Guests are accommodated in shaded dome tents equipped with electric lights, comfortable beds and bedding. Clean bathrooms are creatively finished with stone washed walls and pine cone ceilings. Sufficient well-lit showers with an endless supply of hot water from the "donkey” are complemented by electric power points for added comfort.
Delicious home cooked meals are served by friendly staff in the lapa or next to the river on cedarwood dining tables with natural bark underfoot. Cosy log fires ensure a relaxed atmosphere for evening braais and socialising with friends.
OTHER ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Besides its very attractive setting in indigenous lowveld forest with an abundance of attractive plants, flowers and birds, there are several fascinating Indo-African ruins along the trail. The kloof Hydro are also nearby.
A wide range of exciting adventure and recreation activities like river rafting, mountain biking, abseiling, hiking and birding are offered at Riverwild on request.
SPECIALIST PACKING
Cool clothes, walking shoes, sun block, hat and a swimming costume is recommended for the normally warm days and something warm with mosquito repellent for the evenings around the fire. But do not forget your bird and plant books, a camera and binoculars.
