RHEBOKSKRAAL OLIVE ESTATE
Recreational / other
in McGregor, Breede River Valley,
Western Cape, South Africa
Come and join Annalien on a walk through the olive groves, learn more about
cultivars, curing of olives,( you know you can't eat that black little fruit
from the tree), the history of olives in South Africa and the world, pruning and
farming activities. We stop at the tasty black wrinkled dried olives on palettes
in the sun, talk about the old homestead of Rhebokskraal, a national monument
and dated at 1874 and find barrels of olives in brine under the oak tree.
In the boutique factory a tasting table of dried olives, smoked olives, olives
in garlic and herbs, olive chutney and more are waiting. We talk about the
medicinal value of olives and feel the natural olive tree cream on our skins.
Annalien entertain you with the guitar and songs that was born on Rhebokskraal
and in the groves. It tells about people yearning for a simple kind of life.
Here you experience olives in song, color and taste.
From here the group goes to Villagers Art Café and Farmstall and indulge in
organic fruit juices like plum, grape (Merlot, Shiraz and Cabernet wooded),
prune and apricot. Create your own pita with a mezze of olive products like
patees, dried olives marinated in honey and garlic and chilli and garlic,
marinated veggies, salad and meat. A culinary experience. Ask Reuben from
Reuben's in Franschoek.
On arrangement the food can be served under the oak tree while listening to the
Rhebokskraal song. We take from 2 to 60 people. Price R145/person meal included.
Hope to see you soon, summertime we do the tours early in the morning, from8
o'clock , rest of the year on appointment a little bit later.
