Forming a barrier between the Garden Route and the Klein Karoo, the Outeniqua Mountains offer a pristine hiking environment.

From 7 day guided hikes to 1 hour walks you will discover Herold in the midst of spectacular mountain beauty and unique fauna and flora.

Whilst we can arrange any guided hike of your choice, we list examples of some of the more popular routes:

1) George.
2) Cradock & George Peak Day Walks (7 - 9 hours) - A long, steep and strenuous walk with spectacular views of the Swartberg mountains in the Little Karoo and Garden Route coastline.
3) Pass-to-Pass Day Walk (3 hours) - Short walks with steep climbs. Spectacular views of the Outeniqua mountains and George. Rich fynbos.
4) Tierkop Overnight Trail - This 3 day trial takes you through a variety of habitats, pine plantations, indigenous forest and fynbos.

Outeniqua is derived from a Khoi word meaning "people carrying bags of honey". Early travellers noted mountain slopes of heather swarming with bees.

Cutting through these fynbos rich mountains is the Montagu Pass which is a national monument. The pass offers an excellent and safe walking environment to enjoy this serenity.
