MAGWA VOLUNTEERS
Cultural Volunteer Project
near Port St Johns, Wild Coast
Eastern Cape, South Africa

MagwaVolunteers is a small permaculture and community project situated at one of the continent's most breathtaking locations - Magwa Falls on South Africa's Wild Coast.

This experience will take you deep into the heart of Africa. Every tourist and/or volunteer that ever finds himself / herself in Gwexintaba, is usually gob smacked by the raw beauty of Mother Africa and her children of the stars, the Pondo people.

Here you will experience Africa in a true African way. Singing children, cattle in the fields, women collecting water from the river, men ploughing the land with ox, waterfalls, forests, blue skies..... only to name a few of the amazing things you will experience. The village is stress-free and peaceful and the Pondo people are beautiful, loving, free, happy, smiling people with very little influences of the Western world.

Whether you're on a gap year, want to learn about African culture or sustainable living, or would just like to volunteer for a bit, Magwa is a wonderful place for backpackers to make themselves useful, have some fun and experience a completely different continent!

To volunteer in this community is to live in Africa! Magwa Volunteers founder, Louis, is an active member of the community, and is involved in projects such as brick-making and water-supply, and gardening classes for kids. One of the major benefits of the project is employment for local villagers.

He invites you to come live here for a while. Introducing new village technology and farming techniques, using renewable energy and nature to work for them will ensure their freedom they still live. Plant fruit trees, work at the school and do building work at the house. Play with the kids and experience their peace!

Living in a very basic house with light from solar panels and the moon, joy from the Gwexintaba villagers and the equilibrium of nature is what you will experience with Magwa volunteers. It could easily be a life-changing experience!

Africa is calling you!
