The Cheese Shop
Klein River Cheese is a small, family run business located just 7km outside
Stanford, along Route 326, in the Western Cape.
It all started in 1995 when Riaan & Shelley Lourens used their surplus milk and
started experimenting with cheese.
In the years to follow the cheeses as well as the cheese maker, won numerous
awards and the cheese factory grew.
At the Cheese Shop, visitors can taste a variety of the award winning cheeses
while watching the cheese being made. All kinds of interesting goodies from
gourmet products specially designed to accompany cheese, to gifts and cheese
paraphernalia are available.
Situated near The Cheese Shop is a large playground, so visitors are welcome to
enjoy their purchases on the lawn in the park, while the children play and feed
the many farm animals.
A trip to the Klein River farm is a perfect outing for the whole family,
children can enjoy our petting farm and get to see chickens, ducks, foals and
calves...and dogs of course; as well as play in the playground while Mom and Dad
taste cheese and browse around the Cheese Shop.
