Experiencing an animal 8 to 10 times the size of an elephant interacting with you on our boat, "Ivanhoe" is an emotional experience that you will never forget.

Permitted for Walker Bay, proven to have the most Right Whales visit it annually, we guarantee our guests whales close-up.
We may see Humpback & Bride whales, dolphin, seals, penguins & many of our Coastal Marine birds and even a shark, but our specialty is Southern Right Whales.

Rudy, our founder, skippered for our leading scientists studying Southern Right’s in Walker Bay for 4 years. He was the first to be granted a Whale Watching Permit in 1998 for the Gansbaai side of Walker Bay, famous for having the most Southern Right Whales visit it each season. Rudy has passed his wealth of knowledge and experience on to the Ivanhoe Team of Registered Specialist guides.

"Ivanhoe", a 13m catamaran, renowned stability, custom designed for Cape Seas and Whale watching based on Rudy’s 40 years plus sea-going experience & knowledge gained from over 5000 close visits to Right Whales in Walker Bay.
Safety registered to carry 40, we limit our guests to 30 to ensure seating for all. Wet weather clothing is not required. With its 360’ all round viewing from both upper or lower decks our guests are able to move around at will and assured of a perfect view of our whales.

We operate out of the fishing harbor of Gansbaai only 35 minutes from Hermanus and 2 1/2 hours from Cape Town.

During the off-season, December to May, when the whales have returned to the Antarctic we offer Marine Eco trips around Dyer Island to see the 20,000 Cape Fur Seal Colony. One these trips which are about 1 ½ hours we see many of our Coastal Marine birds and on occasion a Great White Shark or two.. We depart from Klein Baai Slipway which is on the Southern side of the Danger Point peninsula.

We also offer Private Charters for those interested.
