Our 4 self catering cottages all have a braai area, a 4 plate gas stove with oven, and a microwave. All crockery and cultery is there.
The larger family cottages have an enclosed garden and TV 1, 2 & 3. The 2 couples only cottages have wide views of the Drakensberg and surrounding country. and have digital TV. If required breakfast can be served on the private verandahs or in the cottages.
As with B&B rooms comfy furniture is provided. There is a braai area for each cottage, use of the pool is for adults only unless by arrangement. All units have a fireplace and heaters. All the cottages are fairly spacious, bright light and airy.

Gallery Suite:
This is a stunning suite for a couple, self cater or bed and breakfast which can be served on the private verandah from which the views of the mountains and surrounding country side are quite awesome.
Satellite TV and a CD player are provided, and there is comfy furniture for both inside and on the verandah. A braai is provided. In winter sleep by the light of the little fireplace and in summer there are 2 ceiling fans.
Rose Cottage:
A romantic little hideaway with oregan pine sash windows, and welsh dresser, a corner bath separate shower and separate toilet. There is 1 bedroom with a fan in summer, a big fireplace warms the whole cottage in winter, TV is provided and a CD, enjoy self cater or bed and breakfast on your own verandah which has sweeping views of the Drakensberg and a braai in the garden. The stove is gas, with 4 plates and oven there is also a microwave.
Pin Oak and English Oak Cottages:
Our ever popular 2 bedroom cottages (all bedrooms en-suite) are set in a pecan nut plantation on the hill, they are great fun for a family or group of friends, this is the complete self cater option with a full stove and microwave and full size fridge, braai area, TV, a big fireplace for cold winter nights, and for those who just like a romantic evening around a log fire.
We are the only self cater accommodation in the
Central Drakensberg with a star rating, so your comfort is guaranteed.

Experience true country life in South Africa where we all live in harmony. Our cat, sheep, cows and even guinea fowl stroll around at leisure. You are welcome as our guests.
Other guests include Bald Ibis, Sacred Ibis, Glossy Ibis, Ha Ha dedas, raptors abound and owls tapdance on your roof at night. Our newly established birders route provides Birders with Montaine, Grassland, Riverene and Wetland birding habitats. Even Lbj's are found in numbers.
Mountain hikes include guided hikes of the "Big Five" mountain trails including Sterk Horn, Amphlett, Champagne Castle, Gatberg and Injasuthi and Matterhorn. You can be rewarded by experiencing "San" Rock paintings in caves on route. Many of these are day trips from the Central Drakensberg.ACORN cottages are often used as "base camps" for those in training for Kilimanjaro, Mount Kenya and who knows - Nepal? Mountain Biking and many other Adventure Sports are within easy reach. A new and popular addition to the list of local attractions, is the Drakensberg Canopy Tour, set within an indigenous forest, and towered over by the majestic Cathkin Peak. This tour provides visitors with excellent opportunities to view the awesome natural beauty of the region
We are situated with-in easy reach of Johannesburg ±4 1/2 hours, Durban 2 1/2 hours,
Kimberley 5 hours, London 14 hours and New York 16 hours backwards, we are convenient for happy family reunions and weddings in the mountains. Acornsin Champagne honeymoons and anniversaries are very popular.

All sports - horse riding, golf, bowls, fly fishing, cycling, hiking, white water rafting, quad biking, etc, are availble within a short drive from Acorn Cottages.
