No.Pennington Park is situated in a secure complex in the village of
Pennington, 10 minutes south of Scottburgh (40 minutes from Durban International
Airport) on the South Coast of KwaZulu-Natal.
The cottage has 4 bedrooms and sleeps 8 people comfortably. Two of the rooms
contain double beds, while the other two have single beds, and all rooms have
ceiling fans. One bedroom is en-suite and there is another bathroom and a
separate toilet.
All the windows have burglar guards and there are secure gates at the front and
back door.
The kitchen (with oven, microwave, fridge, washing machine and all necessary
cutlery and crockery), dining room and lounge are open-plan and lead out onto a
large, covered verandah with a built-in braai. Beyond this is a large lawn, with
plenty of space for children to play.
There is a TV and DStv decoder - just bring your own smartcard.
All linen is provided, except for towels.
There is a swimming pool, club house and tennis court in the complex for your
use, ideal for days when the beach is windy or too cool.
The beach is 300m from the cottage - a pathway leads down to the beach, which
has lovely rock pools, a tidal pool and a swimming area, ideal also for surfing,
body boarding and wave/surfskis. Above the tidal pool is a small restaurant and
play area.
There is a great area for shore fishing, and the Pennington Ski Boat Club is a
five-minute drive away. The nearest shops are a two-minute drive away (an easy
10-minute walk), with the shopping complex including a grocery store, liquor
store, pharmacy and pub. There is also a tea room at the entrance to the village
that opens early in the morning for those small emergencies!
There are two golf courses and one mashie course in Pennington - Umdoni,
Selborne and PenValley - as well as Scottburgh Golf Course 10 minutes up the
coast. Umdoni and Selborne are both ranked in SA's top 100 and offer a challenge
to any level of golfer. Near Selborne is Lynton Hall driving range, arguably the
best driving range in South Africa: 400m long and 250m wide, with four greens to
aim for and a huge undulating putting surface the size of a rugby field -
definitely worth a visit!
Scottburgh beach is great for a morning or day trip - it also has a super-tube
and putt-putt course, and the Crocodile Farm is nearby. Scottburgh Mall has a
large Pick 'n Pay and a Woolies Foods, amongst other shops, and a Spur.
Well-known Lynton Hall is five minutes up the road and serves gourmet meals at
its restaurant.
No. 1 Pennington Park is the ideal family holiday cottage for those weekend
getaways or school holidays
