13 Pondokkie is situated in the tranquil little village of Suiderstrand, in
the Agulhas National Park. The village is 5 km from the historic lighthouse,
which is at the most southern tip of Africa where the Atlantic and Indian
Ocean's meet.
This self-catering cottage can sleep up to 8 people. There is a double room with
a double bed and 2 single beds, a main bedroom and an attic both with double
beds.
- There are two large bathrooms.
- The open plan kitchen is fully equipped with a microwave, gas stove and
kitchen nook. (with a sea view)
- The dining area has a built in fire place and leads onto a sunny outside
entertainment area.
- All bed linen is provided but please bring own towels.
The cottage is about 250m from the sea which boasts a pebble beach and about
800m to the right is a beautiful turquoise lagoon (Pietie se Punt)
There is plenty to do in the area:
- Visit the quaint little restaurant in the Lighthouse.
- Experience the longest uninterrupted sand beach in the Southern
hemisphere at Struisbaai, which also boasts a colorful fisherman's harbour.
- Chartered boat trips and kayaking are available (bookings at the harbor)
- This is a nature lover's paradise with seasonal whale watching and many
nature trails to choose from. De Mond and De Hoop Nature Reserves are nearby.
- Other activities in the area include horse riding, surfing, kite
surfing, angling, four by four vehicle trips and even bowls.
Experience:
- Arniston with its Waenhuiskrans and Kassiesbaai Fishermen's Village.
- Bredasdorp, which boasts a Shipwreck Museum, and arts and crafts.
- Elim, the Moravian Missionary Village
- Indulge in the wine tasting at the wine farms in the area.
Or just relax surrounded by fynboss and fall asleep to the sound of the waves
and awaken to the sound of the birds, and just unwind and see where the day
takes you.
